One artThe art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn’t a disaster.—Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan’t have lied. It’s evident
the art of losing’s not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.Elizabeth Bishop

O arta
Arta de-a pierde nu-i greu a deprinde;
atatea lucruri par a fi menite
a disparea, incat nu mai surprinde.Sa pierzi zilnic ceva spre-a te destinde,
chei de la usa, ore ostenite.
Arta de-a pierde nu-i greu a deprinde.Apoi arta de-a pierde ti-o extinde:
locuri si nume sa le faci pierite;
Nimic nu-i un dezastru, doar depinde.Pierdui al mamei ceas si, far-a vinde,
doua din trei din casele iubite.
Arta de-a pierde nu-i greu a deprinde.
iubit) . N-ar trebui sa mint. Toate-s vadite.
Arta de-a pierde nu-i greu a deprinde
desi pare-a fi (Scrie!) ce pretinde.Romanian version Maria Magdalena Biela
Dust If You MustDust if you must, but wouldn’t it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?Dust if you must, but there’s not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.Dust if you must, but the world’s out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it’s not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.Rose Milligan

Sa pictezi ori sa scrii cuiva despre tine,
Sa faci un tort, sa plantezi o samanta ;
In rauri sa-noti, sa te cateri pe munti;
Muzica sa asculti si carti sa citesti ;
Sa-ti faci prieteni, viata s-o traiesti.Sterge praful de vrei, insa lumea ti-e cantul
Cu soarele-n ochi si prin plete cu vantul ;
In urma-ti ramane doar praf, s-a-nteles..Romanian version, Bielka
The red dressI always saw, I always said
If I were grown and free,
I’d have a gown of reddest red
As fine as you could see,To wear out walking, sleek and slow,
Upon a Summer day,
And there’d be one to see me so
And flip the world away.And he would be a gallant one,
With stars behind his eyes,
And hair like metal in the sun,
And lips too warm for lies.I always saw us, gay and good,
High honored in the town.
Now I am grown to womanhood….
I have the silly gown.Dorothy Parker

Tu-respectatibil, eu-gentila.
Acum femeie sunt si eu…
Am rochia inutila.Romanian version

The road not taken / Drumul nealesTwo roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.Robert Frost

Drumul neales
era plin cu iarba, dorind pas vanjos;
si totusi cu nimic alt’ mai avantajos,
ambele cai m-asteptau la umblat.In acea dimineata, spre-a m-ademeni,
mi-aratau iarba lor necalcata de pas
Oh, lasai primul drum pentru o alta zi!
Indoindu-ma, totusi, ca voi mai reveni,
din clipa in care alt drum m-a atras.
Romanian version, Maria Magdalena Biela
A questionA voice said, Look me in the stars
And tell me truly, men of earth,
If all the soul-and-body scars
Were not too much to pay for birth.Robert Frost
……………………………..O intrebare
Aud: Priviti-ma in astre
si drept graiti, voi, pamanteni
de-i dreapta plata vietii voastre
cu trup si suflet adanci rani.Romanian version Maria Magdalena Biela
Do not stand at my grave and weep
Sa nu plangi la mormantul meu.
Nu zac acolo in somn greu.
Sunt mii de vanturi respirand.
Sunt diamant de nea, lucind.
Sunt soarele din coptul grau.
Sunt ploaia Toamnei, tandru brau.
In dimineti, cand te trezesti,
iti sunt o soapta la feresti,
de pasari prinse-n zbor tacut.
O stea lucind in noapte-ti sunt.Sa nu plangi la al meu zenit.
Nu sunt acolo. N-am murit.

and whatever a sun will always sing is youhere is the deepest secret nobody knows

Iti port inima cu mine (o port in inima mea)
Nu raman niciodata fara ea (oriunde
merg eu, si tu mergi , draga mea; si orice e facut
Iti port inima (o port in inima mea).
