In un momento / In a moment / Intr-un moment
per Sibilla Aleramo

In un momento
Sono sfiorite le rose
I petali caduti

In a moment
for Sibilla Aleramo

In a moment
The roses have faded
The petals fallen
Because I could not forget the roses
We were looking for them together
We found some roses
They were her roses they were my roses
This journey we called love
We made the roses with our blood and our tears
That shone for a moment in the morning sun
We have faded them under the sun among the brambles
The roses that were not our roses
My roses her roses

P. S. And so we forgot the roses.

Intr-un moment
pentru Sibilla Aleramo

Intr-un moment
Trandafirii s-au vestejit
Petalele au cazut
Pentru ca n-am putut uita trandafirii
Ii cautam impreuna
Am gasit cativa trandafiri
Erau trandafirii ei erau trandafirii mei
Aceasta calatorie numita iubire

In lubrici fischi grotteschi
E tintinnare d’angeliche campanelle
E gridi e voci di prostitute
E pantomime d’Ofelia
Stillate dall’umile pianto delle lampade elettriche
……………………………………………………………………
E me ne andavo errando senz’amore

Fair evening

The heart said to me tonight: don’t you know?
The lovely dark rose
Golden by a blonde hair:
And she with bright and brown eyes whose imperial grace
Charmed the rosy
Freshness of the morning:
And you followed in the air
The fresh incarnation of a morning dream:
And he used to wander when the dream
And the scent veiled the stars
(That you loved to watch behind the gates
The nightly pale stars):
That used to pass silent
And white as a flight of doves
Surely it’s dead: don’t you know?
It was the fair night
Of the perfidious Babel
A paradise of flames rising in streams towards a bundled sky
In lewd grotesque whistles
And tinkling of angelic bells
And shouts and voices of prostitutes
And pantomimes of Ophelia
Exuding from the humble cries of electric lamps
————————————–
A vulgar little song was dead
And left my heart in sorrow
And I was wandering without love
Leaving my heart from door to door:
With her who was not born and yet is dead
And left my heart without love:
Yet the heart brings in sorrow:
Leaving my heart from door to door.

Seara de balci

Inima-mi spuse asta seara: nu mai stii?
Minunatul trandafir negru
A fermecat trandafiria
Prospetime a diminetii:
Si tu ai urmarit in aer
Proaspata incarnare a unui vis matinal:
Stelele palide nocturne)
Care obisnuiau sa treaca in tacere
In obscene grotesti fluieraturi
Si zornait de clopote angelice
Si strigate si voci de prostituate
Si pantomime ale Ofeliei
Emanand din umilele tipete ale lampilor electrice.
———————————————–
Un cantec mic vulgar a murit
Si mi-a lasat inima in amar
Si eu fara dragoste-am ratacit
Din usa-n usa lasandu-mi inima-n zadar:
Cu ea ce nu-i nascuta si totusi a murit
Si mi-a lasat inima fara iubire-amar:
Totusi inima poarta durerea, ratacit
Lasandu-mi inima din usa-n usa-n zadar.

Stenditi accanto a me e raccontami…/ Lie down next to me and tell me …

Raccontami:
Di quell’amore naufragato in geometrie astratte.
Di quel mio canto che voleva raggiungere le stelle;
Vieni dunque, adagiati accanto a me, non esitare
stenditi accanto a me e raccontami…

Lie down next to me and tell me …

Tonight do not wander among unknown worlds
Lie down beside me on the bare earth
Take my hand in yours and together
under this silver halogen moon
I will close my eyes and you, at the edge of my voice …

Tell me:
of the immense solitude of the stars
tell me about the silence of the stones
of when the sun plays hide and seek
mocking vagabond clouds.
Tell me about the mist the slight cry.

Tell me:
of when teeth grind sadness
of parched lips and that lump laced in my throat
of salt clotted at the corners of the eyes
years that leave spots on the skin.
Tell me about the pain of the plant when it gives birth to a flower.

Tell me:
Of when that fog falls that fades the colors
of when the light rain washes the infected wounds
Tell me about the silver of the olive trees in November
of the sweetness of the hills that stretch down to the sea.
Tell me about the storms that bite the rocks.

Tell me:
Of that shipwrecked love in abstract geometries.
Of that song of mine that wanted to reach the stars;
that song with broken wings that could not fly.
Come then, lay down beside me, do not hesitate
the time of a night is short. You don’t hear … you don’t see?
The Pleiades are ready to set, You don’t hesitate any longer
lie down next to me and tell me …

Mai…/ Never…

POSTED IN contemporary poetry, translated Italian-English May 4, 2019

mai

Mai…/ Never…

e ancora sulle mie cosce come colonne corinzie

scoppiano e mandano scintille
come i mortaretti delle feste.

Uno scultore cantò i mie piccoli seni
[piccoli limoni da succhiare]
prima con cocente cera fusa,
poi col piombo rovente dell’amore

provoca paura, incute timore.

No! Nessuno musico, nessun poeta
scrisse mai del mio nome
dalle dure consonanti
del dolore in esso nascosto;
nessuno ne ha mai scritto
nessuno mai ne scriverà.

Grazia Montanaro Lombardi

Never…

No poem ever my name inspired
never a musician wrote symphonies for it,
neither Adagios, nor nocturnal, nor songs’ music,
to hum in the shower.

Of course, crazy poets have written
poems of my fierce Venus body
then of my unripe body of mature Aphrodite
and still of my thighs like Corinthian columns
join at the top with a basket of acanthus leaves.

Others wrote about the sweetness of my eyes
quiet dark lakes to get wet
when the languor invades,
or stormy, when at the height of anger
they burst and send sparks
like festive firecrackers.

A sculptor sang my small breasts
[small lemons to suck]
first with scorching melted wax,
then with the red-hot lead of love
finally he immortalized them in marble.

Yes! Many of me have been sung.
But never my name.
It inspires fear, it has no slippery sweetness
has hard consonants … deep roots,
and painful thorns in which he stumbles his tongue
causes fear, arouses fear.

No! No musician, no poet
never wrote of my name
from the hard consonants
of the pain hidden in it;
no one has ever written
no one will ever write about it.

La stazione che non so / The station I don’t know / Statia pe care nu o cunosc

La stazione che non so / The station I don’t know / Statia pe care nu o cunosc

Sono seduta da così tanto tempo
in questa stazione
senza nome
che confondo i treni che arrivano
con quelli che vanno.

Intanto nell’attesa il mio bagaglio,
di tempo e
di pioggia si è logorato
e non so più
se il treno che aspettavo
deve ancora
arrivare oppure è già passato!

Quanta vita

seduta e ancora aspetto
confusa in
e attendo quieta
e senza lusinghe quel treno che forse
mi porterà lontano.

The station I don’t know.

I’ve been sitting for so long
in this station
nameless
that I confuse the arriving trains
with those who go.
Meanwhile, waiting
my luggage,
of time and
of rain
has worn down
and I don’t know anymore
if the train I was waiting for
still has to
arrive or has already passed!
How much life
unknowingly flows into the stations
between ghost cars and the rattle of pistons.

I’m here now
sitting and still waiting
confused in
a mixture of sun or mist
with heart
which adapts its rhythm to the plunger
of a train
which is passing through gusts of black smoke
and a dusting of stars
and I welcome the caress of the wind gratefully
and I wait quietly
and without flattery that train which maybe
will take me far.

Stația pe care nu o cunosc.

Am stat mult timp
în această stație
fără nume
incat confund
trenurile care sosesc
cu cele care pleaca.
Între timp, asteptand,
bagajele mele,
de timp și de ploaie, s-au uzat
si nu mai stiu
daca trenul pe care l-am asteptat
trebuie sa soseasca
sau a trecut deja.

Cât de multă viață
nestiind se scurge prin stații
între mașini fantomă și zgomotul pistoanelor.

Sunt aici acum
stand și încă așteptand
confuza într-un
amestec de soare si ceață
cu inima
care își adaptează ritmul la pistonul
unui tren
care trece prin rafalele de fum negru
și un praf de stele
și accept mângâierea vântului recunoscatoare
și aștept liniștit
și fără lingușire acel tren care poate
mă va lua departe de aici.

Volevo spiegare

I wanted

I wanted to explain
the stormy sea
of a lead-colored sky
of the sharp stone paths
of a cold and ruthless wind
that makes the trees contort with pain.
I wanted to talk about a heart
that no longer beats the rhythms of love.
Of a lost soul that has lost its wings
and no longer dares to challenge the updrafts.
I wanted to discuss the time that eludes the fingers.
but dazed and confused by a sacred and esoteric perfume
…. I knew only about the rose!

……. stiam doar despre trandafir!

Palme delle mani / Palms of hands / Palme ale mainilor

Oh palme delle mani iscritte di segni,

triangoli, rami, croci, stelle,

brevi e morbide, e tanto destino inciso,

immagini d’immensi spazi e musiche,

e fantasia e follia e solitudine e carità,

linee linee in catena in croce in danza,

oh palme delle mie mani, scrittura d’astri!

Palms of hands

Oh palms of hands with signs inscribed,
triangles, branches, crosses, stars,
all my life that has been and will be,
the moment of death that I ignore and I don’t fear,
and other, other that look like nailed nails,
but around you they gleam wings of glory,
oh palms of hands I look at you like in the mirrors,
so human and so occult,
misted mirrors so light shines more,
short and soft, and much engraved destiny,
images of immense spaces and music,
and fantasies and madness and loneliness and charity,
lines lines in chain on the cross in dance,
oh palms of my hands, writing of stars!

…………………………….
Palme ale mainilor

Oh palme ale mainilor inscrise cu semne
triunghiuri, ramuri, cruci, stele,
si fantezii si nebunie si singuratate si mila,

Verrà la morte e avrà i tuoi occhi / Death will come and have your eyes

Verrà la morte e avrà i tuoi occhi
questa morte che ci accompagna
dal mattino alla sera, insonne,
sorda, come un vecchio rimorso
o un vizio assurdo. I tuoi occhi
saranno una vana parola
un grido taciuto, un silenzio.

Così li vedi ogni mattina
quando su te sola ti pieghi
nello specchio. O cara speranza,
quel giorno sapremo anche noi
che sei la vita e sei il nulla.

Per tutti la morte ha uno sguardo.
Verrà la morte e avrà i tuoi occhi.
Sarà come smettere un vizio,
come vedere nello specchio
riemergere un viso morto,
come ascoltare un labbro chiuso.
Scenderemo nel gorgo muti.

CESARE PAVESE

Death will come and have your eyes

Death will come and have your eyes-
this death that accompanies us
from morning to evening, sleepless,
deaf, like an old remorse
or an absurd vice. Your eyes
they will be a vain word
a silent cry, a silence.

So you see them every morning
When you lean over alone
in the mirror. O dear hope,
that day we will also know
that you are life and you are nothing.

Death has a face for everyone.
Death will come and will have your eyes.
It will be like giving up a vice,
Like seeing in the mirror
emerging a dead face,
like listening to closed lips.
We will descend into the silent whirlpool.

“Questa notte e tornata la pioggia…” / “This night the rain is back …”

Ora ascolto e taccio.
Tra poco sarà chiaro,
sarà alba,
con occhi consapevoli e diversi
guarderò la pioggia
formare una pozzanghera a specchio
dove un cielo
scuro e senza sogni
si rifletterà
sognando un diverso paradiso.

Grazia Montanaro Lombardi

“This night the rain is back …”

This night is back to find me the rain.
His song wakes me up on the leaves of the beech tree
as a slow weeping of a crying woman
a nocturnal anxiety that I cannot tame.

“And I evoke memories
of distant and lost days
of a lonely child
on the stream bed
blowing seeds in the wind
to make the sky blossom
and invoked the rain
like a prayer
to wash the face
from the dry brackish of weeping
that dragged her away
like a leaf in the river in flood. ”

Now listen and keep silent.
Soon it will be clear,
it will be dawn,
with conscious and different eyes
I’ll watch the rain
forming a mirror puddle
where a sky
dark and without dreams
will be reflected
dreaming of a different paradise.

Quelle come me…/ Those like me …/ Ceux comme moi…/ Cele ca mine…

Quelle che come me

Quelle come me con l’anima sbrindellata

Those like me …

Those like me
that make-up the mouth with a smile
they often have dry tears
at the corners of the eyes, and eyelashes
kneaded with lumps of rimmel,
flowing in the streams and going to the embankment
at the corners of the mouth, mixing
with the taste of the lipstick, with which
they were putting on makeup, and between the salty
tears and the sweetness of lipstick
that smile is printed over the face
bittersweet taste, which they exhibit
in the world to hide the pain.

Those like me with a tattered soul
They create a smile and walk around the world.

care curge in rauri si merge spre digul
