The day I died \/ Ziua in care am murit<\/p>\n

I was eighteen,
\nI woke up that morning
\nand I thought:
\ntoday is my last day on earth.
\nI went outside,
\na November morning
\ndark and heavy
\nlooked at me morosely.
\nYet what I saw was
\nthe fire of a daring sunrise
\nat the horizon.
\nThe rain fell cold
\nyet I saw its rhythm,
\nthe physics of its gravity,
\nthe teardrops like diamonds
\nfalling in a silent dreamy dance.
\nI watched the barren trees
\nand I saw their heart beating,
\nthe vim in their veins,
\nthe buds and leaves gestating
\nin their wombs,
\nwaiting for Spring.
\nI watched the sad wet houses
\nand I saw life inside their walls,
\nI felt the scent of morning coffee,
\nthe sleepy fire
\nlaughing in flames
\nlike a newborn waking from a dream.
\nI knew then that I was happy.
\nToday, many moons later
\nI woke up,
\nin a December morning,
\nI drank my coffee
\nwatching the trees, the heaven, the rain, the houses,
\nI heard little voices calling my name
\nand my grandmotherly hands knew what to do.
\nI thought a little prayer:
\n\u201cThank you for
\nI haven\u2019t been living my life
\nDead\u201d.

\nTotu\u0219i, ceea ce am v\u0103zut a fost
\nfocul unui rasarit indraznet
\nla orizont.
\nPloaia cadea rece
\ntotu\u0219i i-am v\u0103zut ritmul,
\nfizica gravita\u021biei sale,
\nlacrimile ca diamantele
\nc\u0103z\u00e2nd \u00eentr-un dans vis\u0103tor t\u0103cut.
\nAm urm\u0103rit copacii uscati
\n\u0219i le-am v\u0103zut inima b\u0103t\u00e2nd,
\nseva \u00een vene,
\nmugurii \u0219i frunzele gestand
\n\u00een p\u00e2ntecele lor,
\na\u0219tept\u00e2nd prim\u0103vara.
\nAm privit casele triste \u0219i umede
\n\u0219i am v\u0103zut via\u021ba \u00een pere\u021bii lor,
\nam sim\u021bit mirosul cafelei de diminea\u021b\u0103,
\nfocul adormit
\nr\u00e2z\u00e2nd \u00een fl\u0103c\u0103ri
\nca un nou-n\u0103scut care se treze\u0219te dintr-un vis.
\nAm stiut atunci c\u0103 sunt fericita.
\nAst\u0103zi, dupa mult timp
\nm-am trezit,
\n\u00eentr-o diminea\u021b\u0103 de decembrie,
\nMi-am b\u0103ut cafeaua
\nurm\u0103rind copacii, cerul, ploaia, casele,
\nAm auzit voci mici care \u00eemi strigau numele
\niar m\u00e2inile mele de bunica \u0219tiau ce s\u0103 fac\u0103.
\nAm g\u00e2ndit o mic\u0103 rug\u0103ciune:
\n“Mul\u021bumesc pentru ca
\nnu mi-am tr\u0103it via\u021ba
\nmoarta”.<\/p>\n
