My Phoenix January<\/p>\n

I was born in the light of night,
\nbetween denial, despair, delight,
\nupon my word, I nothing knew
\nof my new life and its own dew.<\/p>\n

I felt my feathers’ fire sweet
\nbecoming ashes in a beat,
\nI heard my lament falling high,
\na stricken beauty meant to die,<\/p>\n

announcing life. So I’ve been told,
\nsince birth I was too wise, too old.
\nI’ve never cried yet tears I shed,
\nmy Mother’s heart with hopes I fed,
\nI shared my light to make life clearer,
\nI was the candle and the mirror.<\/p>\n

I soared to heights above all peers,
\nI left behind all petty fears,
\nI tried to be the glow that lights
\nnot the glare that obscures and blinds.<\/p>\n

Walking the Earth, all said and done,
\nI taught my eyes to watch and see,
\nI turned my all self to the Sun,
\nknowing that shadows fall behind me.<\/p>\n

My tale began with snow and night,
\nwith mother’s tears and daughter’s light.
\nMy feathers feel a fire thirst
\nand into flames once more I’ll burst.
\nMy Phoenix winter unrehearsed.<\/p>\n
