The joy of child care<\/p>\n

You rush at me this morn with open arms.<\/span>
I gladly scoop you up and hold you close.<\/span>
A heady mix of soap and fragrant talc;<\/span>
A hint of milk and jam and buttered toast.<\/span><\/p>\n

Your lips begin to tremble; Mum departs.\u00a0<\/span>
Another friend arrives, I crouch down low.<\/span>
Transform into a tiger\u2019s snarling jaws.<\/span>
I watch your face; a smile begins to grow.<\/span><\/p>\n

You stumble on the mat upon the floor.<\/span>
Tears spill quickly from your full moon eyes.<\/span>
Such trifling troubles yet for one so brave;<\/span>
A magic kiss brings sunny cloudless skies.<\/span><\/p>\n

You look upon the world with simple joy.<\/span>
There\u2019s no pretence; nothing you must hide.<\/span>
Another day of freedom to explore;<\/span>
To seek, to find, to know, to be a child.<\/span><\/p>\n
