Amid the salmon and the apricot<\/p>\n

dipped in a bowl of midnight ink,<\/p>\n

Your tongue cuts to the quick<\/p>\n

spelling out the fable upon which<\/p>\n

you tell me I have set the table<\/p>\n

of my life’s journey:<\/p>\n

You speak of mysteries beckoning<\/p>\n

an audience with me<\/p>\n

but my dreams line games of<\/p>\n

solitaire between orange moons<\/p>\n

hung stealthily in the african sky:<\/p>\n

I wonder which equinox it was<\/p>\n

you first discovered my soul sleeping<\/p>\n

soundly on the slatted kitkat \u00a0bench<\/p>\n

and moved on into the silence<\/p>\n

so as not to wake a sleeping universe?<\/p>\n

I remember your passing<\/p>\n

this way once before<\/p>\n

It was a twilight heart of Cabaret Voltaire<\/p>\n

The dish had runaway with the silver spoon<\/p>\n

and I midstep<\/p>\n

a Cha-Cha with Appolinaire<\/p>\n

caught your shadow kissing Time<\/p>\n

and heard you whisper<\/p>\n

“she.<\/p>\n

is mine!<\/p>\n

Guillaume and I played cards till morning<\/p>\n

and found a sunrise dressed for War!<\/p>\n

The blood cycle<\/p>\n

\u00a0left front doors well-dressed<\/p>\n

and troubled.<\/p>\n

Minds and art fled to meagre exiles.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Fixed on other tongues<\/p>\n

You forgot her name<\/p>\n

and caution:<\/p>\n

blood thirst monologues<\/p>\n

drove you underground<\/p>\n

a warlord ravaging your soul<\/p>\n

A Tale of Two Cities,<\/p>\n

shredded across your bed,<\/p>\n

raided your enemies<\/p>\n

trivia hunted you down in<\/p>\n

a fine-fisted cranium full of threats.<\/p>\n

but the memory sat cross-legged<\/p>\n

upon your heart and the dearth of uneasy slaughter;<\/p>\n

her seagreen eyes reflected piecemeal<\/p>\n

arrows in your soul: melancholy stole the text<\/p>\n

and read to you<\/p>\n

of an undressed Sargasso Sea<\/p>\n

wherein you saw her again<\/p>\n

play games of solitaire with an ancient man<\/p>\n

they used to call Apollinaire…<\/p>\n
