I ask them to take a poem
and hold it up to the light
like a color slide<\/p>\n

or press an ear against its hive.<\/p>\n

I say drop a mouse into a poem
and watch him probe his way out,<\/p>\n

or walk inside the poem\u2019s room
and feel the walls for a light switch.<\/p>\n

I want them to waterski
across the surface of a poem
waving at the author\u2019s name on the shore.<\/p>\n

But all they want to do
is tie the poem to a chair with rope
and torture a confession out of it.<\/p>\n

They begin beating it with a hose
to find out what it really means.<\/p>\n

Dar tot ce vor ei s\u0103 fac\u0103
este s\u0103 lege poezia de un scaun cu fr\u00e2nghia
\u0219i s\u0103 o tortureze pana la o m\u0103rturisire.<\/p>\n

Ei incep s\u0103 o bat\u0103 cu un furtun
